Collard Greens Health Benefits and Nutrition Values


Collard Greens come with good health and nutrition as it belongs to the family of cruciferous vegetables or cabbage. These vegetables are known to have originated in Asia Minor region, but is now grown in almost all parts of the world where the temperature of the cold side.

Collards also contain substances called di-indolyl sulforaphane and methane, which are known to be found in the treatment of cancer. Thus, consumption of collards can offer protection against prostate cancer, ovarian cancer and breast cancer.

These beautiful green are also rich source of essential substances such as vitamin A, vitamin C and folic acid. Vitamin C may protect against the flu, infections, vitamin A has some antioxidant properties and folic acid is great for women during pre-conception, it can be very good for the baby to be born. This is not where the benefits end of collards. They also come very good filled with minerals such as copper, manganese, calcium, iron and zinc. So you can see that really shoots the locomotive power.
